Tenterfield

Welcome to Tenterfield

Tenterfield is one of the country's most significant historic settlements surrounded by bushlands, National Parks and award winning wineries and vinyards.

Just 18 kms south of the Queensland border, Tenterfield, primarily a sheep and cattle district, has four definite seasons with warm summers, perfect autumn days with streets ablaze with autumn colour, crisp clear winter mornings and beautiful mild spring days. One of the most romantic and colourful of Australia's frontier towns, Tenterfield is known as “The Birthplace of Our Nation” -Sir Henry Parkes delivering his famous Federation Speech in the Tenterfield School of Arts on 24th October 1889 which ultimately led to the Federation of all Australian States on January 1st 1901
